An Unfunny Evening with Tim Minchin and his Piano kicked off with four dates at The Lyric Theatre in London earlier this year before embarking on a tour of the UK and Ireland, all of which sold out and delighted fans. The Australian tour has been blowing fans away with dates thus far in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Hobart, and Canberra, and from late January 2024, the show will visit Geelong, Brisbane, Adelaide, Newcastle, Perth along with the new shows announced on the Gold Coast and Sydney.
The show comes with the emphatic disclaimer that 'this is not a comedy gig', although this promoter cannot guarantee it won’t inadvertently amuse.
Minchin will perform songs drawn from his 2020 studio album, Apart Together, from his musicals, Matilda and Groundhog Day, from his TV and film writing, and from his early songwriting days around the turn of the century. The set list will be fluid, the chat unplanned, and the vibe informal. He plans to wear shoes.
An Unfunny Evening with Tim Minchin and his Piano is a rare chance for fans of Minchin and the craft of songwriting.
