The Jah Invasion cometh…
Three great reggae warriors – led by reggae legend Toots Hibbert – return for a mighty mighty reggae rising.
You’re always in for something special when Toots & The Maytals light up their ‘unique, original combination of gospel, ska, soul, reggae and rock’.
They’ve been knocking out the hits across the globe for more than 40 years. Their first album in 1964 Never Grow Old – Presenting the Maytals was a runaway success, so much so it was re-released in 1997 and did it all over again. Credited with coining the word “reggae” with a hit single back in 1968 called, unsurprisingly, Do the Reggay, they carved themselves an international reputation in the early 70s with hit singles Funky Kingston and Reggae Got Soul.
Toots & The Maytals also inspire other artists – so the iconic Pressure Drop has been covered by The Clash, Jack Johnson and Robert Palmer among others. Their 2004 album, True Love won a Grammy for Best Reggae Album. Two years later, the follow-up Light Your Light was nominated for the same Grammy category. Now their latest 2010 album Flip and Twist is living up to the legend status that precedes it.
Toots & The Maytals welcome a very special guest star – LUCIANO & THE JAH MESSENJAH BAND
Joyously upholding the Rastafari principles…and the true spirit of Jamaican reggae, LUCIANO is one of the most inspiring of reggae singers. Rising in 1995 with the release of his landmark CD Where There Is Life, LUCIANO has held steadfast to enriching Rasta principles with anthems like It’s Me Again Jah – Lord Give Me Strength and Good God and makes it his mission to live his life by example: ‘I have an international message so I cannot leave it to just reggae people. I have to extend it to all walks of life.’ Spoken like a truly benevolent messenger!!
Starting this Jah Invasion will be the iconic WARRIOR KING.
