Formed in 1993 in Duluth, Minnesota, Low are famed for their stark and original sound (often referred to as slow-core) that recalls the drama of Joy Division, the intensity of Big Black and the harmony of a church choir.
Already confirmed for the Melbourne International Arts Festival, Feel Presents are now pleased to announce two additional shows for North American trio LOW.
Friday 22nd October at the Factory in Marrickville (Sydney) and Saturday 23rd at the Bakery in Northbridge (Perth).
Low have visited Australia three times previously the most recent being 2008 when the band performed their 2001 album Things We Lost in the Fire as part of the Don’t Look Back classic album series. This time though, Low will perform material from across their entire catalogue including tracks from their 2005 album The Great Destroyer two songs of which Robert Plant has chosen to cover on his new album Band of Joy. Yes, you read that correctly. Robert Plant, the former-Led Zeppelin front man is a huge fan of Low and has covered the tracks Monkey & Silver Rider for his new solo album.
Says Robert “I’ve been a fan of Low for a long time. That whole spook element. Monkey is such a great song – I don’t think I could write anything half as good as that”.
And of Silver Rider “I had to try and make it more creepy-crawl than them. It could be This Mortal Coil’s kid sister, a 4AD release from 1991”.
