THE CRANSTON CUP GRAND FINAL

Celebrating 25 years and 20 years at The Enmore Theatre.

The Cranston Cup is now in it’s Silver Jubilee Year. 2008 marks 20 years of The Cranston Cup being held at the Enmore Theatre and it is also the Enmore Theatre’s 100 year - so it’s a double Celebration! Be ready for another hilarious season of laughs and surprises. The Cranston Cup commenced in 1985 at Belvoir Street Theatre and moved to The Enmore Theatre in 1987 because it had outgrown Belvoir Street Theatre. From there it has been Sold-Out every year.

Named after Lamont Cranston, a character played by Dennis Watkins the first producer of Theatresports in Australia, the tackiest trophy in town stands over 7ft tall and is as coveted as a Brownlow Medal or the Cricket Ashes. All improvisers dream of winning the famous Cranston Cup and having their name carved on the shield.

Witness the thrills and spills as teams of comic actors create instant scenes based on surprise offers and audience suggestions. Putting their wit and courage to the test, the country’s top improvisers battle it out to get their hands on the biggest, ugliest trophy in Australia.

The Grand Final is the culmination of this year’s Theatresports finals and semi-finals. It is not for the faint hearted and only the toughest improvisers survive. The impro is fast, hard, competitive, frantic and made up all on the spot!

Previous winners have included Rebecca DeUnamuno, Murray Fahey, Daniel Cordeaux, Jordan Raskopoulous, Adam Spencer, Andrew Denton, Jay Laga’aia, Michael Gregory, Lyn Pierse and more legends of Australian improvisation.

The 2008 Cranston Cup will be Directed by Lyn Pierse author of “Theatresports: The Guide” the history of Aussies rules Theatresports.

The show is hosted by Ewan Campbell. Timekeeper Monique Dykstra, Guest Judges, Benny Davis and Peter Lead improvising the music.

This is sudden death, cut-throat comedy that your sides won’t mind being split for.

Always hilarious and completely anarchic, this is a night like no other.

A ticket to the 2008 Cranston Cup ‘Christmas Jubilee’ is a perfect Christmas present. treat yourself and a mate and spread some Christmas joy and laughter.

Let the games begin!
