G-LOVE with Special Guests OZOMATLI & O.A.R
G. Love And Special Sauce – The festival favourites are coming back! Back in 2005, Garrett Dutton, aka G. Love, reenlisted Special Sauce (James ‘Jimi Jazz’ Prescott on upright bass and Jeffrey ‘The Houseman’ Clemens on drums) to complete the Philadelphonic sound. G. Love And Special Sauce take their cues from many musicians including John Lee Hooker, Bob Dylan and De La Soul. When the self-titled debut was released in 1994, hits like “Cold Beverages” and “Baby’s Got Sauce” showcased the group’s fresh sound, now commonly referred to as the Hip-Hop Blues (a term coined by G. Love himself). The album G. Love & Special Sauce went certified gold. A decade later G. Love released The Hustle, an invitation to spend long days lounging on the front porch listening to songs about love, life and lemonade. In 2006 G. Love released Lemonade, a mix of bluesy grooves and rap, on pal Jack Johnson’s Brushfire label, followed a year later with the full-length documentary film A Year And A Night.

Ozamatli
Ozomatli – On the surface, nothing’s changed. There’s the same core line-up, the same oppositional politics, the same live shows that erupt into drum-line blessed community parties, and the same devotion to polyglot urban sound clashing. But here’s what’s new: after 12 years of collaborative song-writing, 12 years of constant touring everywhere from Denver to Tokyo to Sydney, 12 years of supporting anti-war mobilisations and global human rights movements, 12 years of pioneering Spanish-English mash-ups of hip hop, salsa, cumbia, dub, and Middle Eastern funk, and most importantly, 12 years of facing up to internal battles and personal struggles, they’ve emerged anew with their fourth full-length studio album, Don’t Mess With The Dragon, the band’s most cohesive, polished, and joyous record to date.

O.A.R
O.A.R. – From their beginnings as a high school basement band to their current status as college rock phenomenon, O.A.R. (aka Of A Revolution) has remained grounded and grateful at every step. The music, of course, is the key. O.A.R. play a lusty, driving train wreck of rock and ska with a liberal amount of reggae and honest, raw songwriting. O.A.R. converted from an Ohio State frat band to become a Billboard chartbuster and headliner at major venues across America. In 2005 they released their fifth studio album Stories Of A Stranger, featuring the stand-out tracks “Love And Memories”, “Wonderful Day” and “The Stranger”. Their latest release is 2007’s Live From Madison Square Garden – chronicling a sold-out performance with a two-disc audio set. O.A.R.’s infectious brand of uplifting music is coming back to Australian shores and is sure to leave happy devotees in its wake.
